GYPSY 83: The Director’s Cut is a newly reimagined, 4K-restored version of director Todd Stephens’2001 cult classic queer coming-of-age road movie that follows two goth misfits who discover an underground New York City club hosting the annual “Night of 1,000 Stevies” (a massive Stevie Nicks cosplay and tribute event), they flee their conservative hometown of Sandusky, Ohio on a chaotic road trip. Along the way, they meet a colorful cast of fellow outsiders—including a runaway Amish youth and a washed-up lounge singer—who push them to confront their personal traumas, sexuality, and artistic dreams.
Released for the film’s 25th anniversary this definitive cut expands the original runtime to 138 minutes by integrating over 40 minutes of previously unseen footage and a expanded goth soundtrack with 9 new tracks.
